Covered in wall-to-wall, turmeric-colored shag carpet, my grandfather’s den was a magical portal into our family’s past. Much more than his own private hideaway, but rather a welcoming sanctuary for all, where we would gather to hear him tell stories, listen to his favorite records, enjoy movies with cousins, or share meals while watching the hometown team become champion once again. A very warm and familiar setting, as a good portion of my youth was spent within these wood laminate paneled walls, but lasting even longer than the fond memories are those cozy, comforting feelings that still linger today. A tribute to the spaces where we blossomed and learned to grow.
